XR Design and Development

First Responder Training

At ACCAD, I  added to the development of a Virtual Reality training simulator for first responders, aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness and decision-making under high-stress conditions. The project was a research-driven initiative combining immersive media, interactive storytelling, and procedural training to simulate realistic emergency scenarios such as natural disasters, active threat situations, and medical crises. The simulator was designed not only to train tactical responses but also to promote empathy, situational awareness, and communication in chaotic environments.

My role involved end-to-end development using Unity (C#), VR hardware integration, 3D asset creation and rigging, animation systems, and user interface design. The project collaborated with domain experts in public safety, trauma care, and psychology to ensure that the training modules were accurate, emotionally resonant, and aligned with industry standards. The work required scripting interactive behaviors, designing environmental triggers, and optimizing for PCVR headsets. I also conducted field tests and usability tests with students and professionals to gather feedback and iterate the design in real-time.

Beyond the technical build, I helped shape the learning framework by mapping training objectives to immersive experiences. The project showcased my ability to blend creative design thinking with system-level problem solving, while navigating development needs. It also reinforced my commitment to using XR for real-world impact, particularly in high-stakes, human-centered applications like emergency response training.
