For my final animation project at the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD), I created an original short film that tells the story of an invisible detective navigating a noir-inspired fictional world, where he uses his anonymity to help others from the shadows. The piece explores themes of identity, presence, and unseen impact—offering a stylized, emotionally resonant take on the classic detective archetype. Set in a moody, stylized cityscape with cinematic lighting and atmosphere, the story follows the detective’s journey as he uncovers hidden truths and quietly intervenes in the lives of those in need.
Every element of the animation was meticulously handcrafted, from the richly textured environments and props to the expressive character rigs. I used Blender as my primary tool, designing and modeling all assets from scratch and building a full animation pipeline that included custom rigging, camera work, scene composition, lighting design, and keyframe animation. The noir aesthetic was achieved through careful use of lighting, color grading, and visual storytelling—balancing the tone between mystery and warmth. Special attention was paid to visualizing the presence of an "invisible" character, using environmental reactions, shadows, and indirect cues to make his influence felt.
This project reflects my passion for storytelling through atmosphere, design, and character-driven animation, as well as my ability to carry a complex creative vision from concept to execution. It also marked a culmination of my skills in narrative design, visual composition, and 3D animation, blending technical precision with emotional nuance. The invisible detective’s journey is ultimately a metaphor for quiet impact and unseen care—a story that lives beyond the screen and resonates through the world it leaves behind.
